Is My Westy Dead?
« on: August 26, 2007, 01:04:00 AM »

ok..this is really starting to suck. first a dead 360, now i think i got a dead tv.

heres the problem...i was playing halo 2 (seems to be causing the problems  sad.gif  ) but i got done, turned off my xbox, since the tv wasnt getting anything, it went into standby, like usual, no problems. i come back like 15 minutes later and swtich it to the hdmi input to watch tv. but i have no video, the screen is all black but there are some vertical lines, like some color ribbons. its like it on all inputs, but i get sound, no video...which sucks.

is my tv dead or is there an easy fix?
i got it back around april, its the westinghouse lvm-37w3. anyone have any input?

I have no idea if it will fix your TV or not, but try unplugging it from power for a few minutes, then plugging it back in.

If a TV, DVD player, receiver, or whatever isn't working properly, this is usually the first thing I try.

Could it be screen burn in? I know if you leave a movie or game paused for a long time, it can burn the image into the screen.

I had similar issues with my TV as well, which is the TX47 series of the westinghouse.  I found out that is the DPMS and autosensing options of the TV.  I just turned those features off, and have never had an issue since.  Hope that works for you.
