I personally stick with progressive as I can notice a good deal more ghosting on interlaced signals. But that may just be me.  What model westy?

I would reccomend that you stick with 720p, that is what I run on mine in XBMC, however,  I have had a good deal of problems, running my emulators at 720p.  A good movie I have found to catch motion blur is Batman returns, the opening scene with all the bats, if you try to upscale to 1080i and notice the ghosting back it down to 720p and see how that goes.
