Best 32" Lcd Hdtv
« on: January 27, 2007, 03:13:00 PM »

I have been researching LCDs for quite some time and have decided I want a 32 inch LCD. I have limited space because I live in a dorm room and 37 would just be overkill. Anyways the brands I have been looking at are

Sony
Samsung
Phillips
Panasonic
Magnavox

I have marked Sony and Magnavox off of my list because Sonys are overpriced (like a lot of their products tend to be) and Magnavox because they may be cheaper, but the displays I have seen in many stores have not been impressive at all. And yes, I know Magnavox is a rebranded Philips.

These are the TV's I am looking at

Samsung LN S3241DX    - $1079 at Best Buy, could get it cheaper online
http://www.samsung.c...NS3241DXXAA.asp

Samsung LN S3251DX    - $1329 at Best Buy, cheaper online
http://www.samsung.c...NS3251DXXAA.asp

Panasonic TC 32LX60     - $999 at BB, cheaper online
http://www2.panasoni...000000000005702

Philips 32PF7421D         - $999 at BB, cheaper online
http://www.consumer....RCSHQNHKFSESI5P

I am open to any new brands or suggestions. I am not looking at plasma, or projectors. Some of you have had an Xbox 360 much longer than I have and I want to know the best way to invest. Also post links or the actual model number, that would be awsome.  smile.gif

The westinghouse reviews I have read seem to be hit and miss. You either get something decent or a piece of junk...

Target has a TruTech branded 32" TV, but it has no tuner and the review weren't stellar, and store brand usually is not that impressive anyways

Yeah, which is why I am staying away from Insignia, and ILO, and other Great Value tv's.

Vizio is about the only bargain brand I am looking at, because they seem to be decent TV's

My parents have a 43" Vizio. For a "cheap" TV. I think it looks pretty good. Honestly it looks better than some of the other more expensive name brand options I've seen. I may very well go that route myself when I decide to upgrade.

Refurb'd Visio 32" LCD HDTV: $538.50
Don't buy this one here, it's a Grade-C, but merely showing you the specs of the TV. I just saw this same TV at Costco this weekend for $699.00 Better off getting it brand new from Costco since your purchase carries a lifetime no questions asked warranty.  smile.gif

$699 w/lifetime warranty sounds like a very good deal to me. No, it doesn't do 1080p, but at this price. . . who cares.

People at the AV forums are pointing me at the Samsung LNS3251D. I have found a place I can get it for $1050. I am just curious if it is worth paying $350 more for it over the Vizio

From what I've heard/read.... Vizio is made from parts made for other TVs. It's missing SOME features higher end plasmas have. That being said, there's 10+ different flatscreens (43") at my local Sams Club. The Vizio looks better than all of them. It's 2nd cheapest as well. (Some REALLY nasty Magnavox)  I have no idea if itll out last the others. But to MY eyes I'm VERY impressed. My step dad isnt as impressed with his. (Also BDay gift and he's pissed the money was spent on him)  But he also refuses HD TV, so what does one expect? To me the colors "pop". And I'm 95% certain a Vizio 43"+ is my next TV.
