Dvds Playing In 4:3 Instead Of 16:9 After Latest Update
« on: December 02, 2006, 11:08:00 PM »

I've never heard of a problem like that....what kind of video cable are you using?  The only way I can see it doing that is if you have a vga cable set to 1280x1024 in 16:9 mode, but that's probably not very likely since you'd need a 1080p tv for that...

I have it hooked up with component cables, I've narrowed the problem down.  When i go into the dashboard and set it to 480p Widescreen, it squishes the picture into a 4:3 aspect, but if i do 720p it's fine.  I doubt its a cable problem since 720p still works, also it happened right after the latest dashboard update.  I've called support twice and no one has heard of it before, looks like i might just have to buy a DVD player if i can't get this fixed soon.

It could be a problem with your tv.  Have you set your tv to "fill" mode for 480p?  Many hdtv's don't recognize 480p as "high-def" and thus display the image in 4:3 rather than 16:9, unless you tell it to display it in 16:9.  That is kind of strange that its only been happening since the update though...so I could be wrong...
