Boot up with the disk in the drive and it should load the disk first, before trying to read the HDD.

Is your xbox softmodded?
If yes, there are different methods you can use to format the new drive (including hotswap).

I'm going to try a different program called auto installer delux 3.0, does anyone have experience with this program and have you just put an HDD in a chipped xbox and formatted it and installed?

I have used Auto-Installer Deluxe, and it does allow you to format a new hard drive. However, I don't feel that your problem is related to your Slayer's auto-installer disc. If you know the answers to my two questions, I may be able to give you more accurate information to help you.

First, what is the format of disc that your Slayer's auto-installer disc is written to, and if the disc is scratched or not?

Second, do you know what BIOS is flashed to your modchip?

I checked the bios and I dont do this often but I think I got it right.  It says the 512k bios are unknown and 256k are 5838.01 retail.  If i checked the wrong thing tell me.

XBMC says the actual modchip is a Winbond with lots of letters and numbers in brackets.  I bought this from Zodiiak and I was supposed to get a 2.6 xecuter.

Well, maybe your bios doesnt want to boot from a dvd directly, i had a box once who had the same thing.

Does Slayers boot with the stock drive in?
How did you burn slayers?

I don't have the xecuter I have a WinBond modchip.

Wait I burnt it too a NEW cd-rw and now I get an error 16.  I read the tutorial about how to get rid of it but I was wondering, instead of unlocking a friends modded hd can you just unlock your original (by orignal I mean my stock modded hd), go to msdash and set clock, then put new hd in and boot?

I don't think that XBMC can actually identify the modchip that you bought but instead identifies the flashable memory chip on the modchip. The only way to actually tell what modchip it is would be to open the box and just look under the hdd and DVD drives.

If your bios supports the clock fix or unlocked hdds you should be able to avoid the clock loop all together or fix it easily through an ftp.

Ok, I believe that all of the main screws holding the dvd and hdd down are Torx so if you have those, you should be set.

Wow Zodiiak or whatever the "trusted" seller ripped me off, while looking for my type of modchip I found that I DONT HAVE A MODCHIP.  He said I would get an xecuter with an on/off switch and I didnt and tons of other stuff.  I'm pretty pissed.
