.gif is just a file extension. It just happens to have the ability to be animated. Not all .gifs are animated.

If you want to use that extension, that's fine. Just don't make it animated.

and i don't think it has the greatest quality either if im not mistaken doesn't jpg have the best image quality. im not sure tho =/
