History behind my crazy thought...

First I really miss the SOTW. I really liked the challenge and I loved seeing what other people could come up with. Its unfortunate that we allowed our childish pride to ruin something that was really great. It could have been dealt with better, but in the end, I think it would have ended the same way no matter what we did to try and prevent it.

In any competition, be it sport, creative, or girlfriend/boyfriend superiority, you will always come to situations were someone gets hurt. And the problem with something like SOTW, is that old arguments tend to linger. They carry on to the next one.

I also feel there is a tier system amongst us were some people are more skilled than others. I had a thought of a multiple league SOTW, but I still believe it would end up the same.

I would like to see peoples skills, level out and get rid of the tiers, but thats not going to happen. There will always be new people who need to learn and catch up. Probably a good thing, still I miss the competition.

I think the SOTW should stay in the past but I want something.

Rules
1)   Must follow xbox-scenes rules for posting
2)   500x500 pixels(±10px) or smaller
3) No stock photos. Creation must be made from scratch.
4) One entry per person.
5) Winner will be decided by votes. (No comments when voting please)
6)   No voting until all entries are in.
7)   No entries after deadline. (you can change your entry before deadline.)

No 3-D Renders. Must use Photoshop or equivalent.

Contest: Draw a Tree

-Use your Photoshop skills to draw a tree. Sounds simple.
-Winner based on votes. (But try to vote based on realism and general aesthetics.)
-Tree must be in front of a white background only. No grass or earth. Just the tree.

Deadline: Wednesday November 1, 2006 12:00am EST.

here's my take on things...

figured i'd go out on a "limb" and make one of those japanese pink flowering trees...(not sure of the correct name they're called). the leaves themselves could have used a LOT MORE work.. but i'm not quite sure how to add more realism to the leaves, without adding sunlight, more shadowing, etc.
