I thought you guys might be interested in this program. Its a free software like CAD just not as fancy. Its alot of fun to mess around in.

Sketchup is a snazzy little program. For actually designing something with dimensions and proper scaling, it sucks. But if you just want a quick drawing, (A sketch, if you will), of your idea, then it's a great tool. I haven't given it a whole lot of work, but it certainly is a neat application that allows anyone to draw up their idea without needing several grand in software. Add to that the fact that several applications now allow you to import sketchup files and it's yet another tool in the CAD arsenal.

It is actually very easy to make scale models. It allows you to input the size that you want your object to be in ft, m, cm, in.

Perhaps I didn't play around with it enough. But in having Microstation, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks on my home PC I don't really need to use Sketchup anyway, though it is decent for a free app.

i have vectorworks architect version 11.5, i can some stuff with it but not much.

its fun to play around with. I am intriged buy this sketchup.

The great thing about it is so easy to use. You can learn how to use it in about 20 mins through the tut it has.
