Im a perfectionist so most of my drawings are done with a mech. pencil, ruler and a good eraser wink.gif . But then again my stuff is more like drafting than drawing tongue.gif . I can't draw a living thing to save my life  sleep.gif

get a good set of pencils if you want to learn to draw because you can achive many more shades than just by using a #2 pencil. also pick up a good soft white eraser and kneadable eraser too along with a blending/shading stump

yeah i use to use my finger also but then you get those un even shades. you can also use a q-tip or i hear some tissue wrapped around the end of a pencil with a little bit of vasoline works well also

Don't waste ur cash on a huge set of pencils if ur just starting out. I don't draw as much as I used to, but I never bought myself anything other than a 2HB and did just fine. If you have a steady hand and good control of the pencil, you'll do just fine with the 2HB. If anything the harder pencils pisses me off cuz they weren't comfortable to draw with. But that's just me. But once you feel you've devoloped ur drawing skills enough and feel you need just a little bit more control over ur shading, THEN go invest in some pencils. Buying a $20-40 set of pencils isn't going to make you a better artist over night.

I can say almost the same with the tablet. If you can't draw with a pencil, you won't be able to draw with a tablet either. You'll only waste ur money. Only buy a tablet if you are comfortable with a pen or pencil and get frustrated when you can't do the same thing on the computer. And if you own painter, Wacom has a nifty airbrush pen as well if ur into airbrushing. It's a lil odd, but works, lol.

I actually don't have much scanned, but here's what I've got (along with some drawings with a tablet):

Doodle I made on an airplane trip, lol.

Project for class that required us to take two things and combine then:

Quick sketch that started out as two lines (which then became the outer edges of the bridge):

...which I then painted with acrylics for an art class a couple years ago:
(pic taken with phone... hence the glare at the bottom of bridge)

And here are a couple digital pencil drawings made in Painter that I had to do for a "rapid illustration" class:

If only I had the patience and attention span to finish things... haha.
