Games Taking 2hrs To Copy To Hdd
« on: June 01, 2006, 04:07:00 AM »

hi games are taking 2hrs and up to copy to the hdd. it used to take 10 min not long ago. i have tried diffrent drives and no luck. could it be the xbox itself that is buggered. Also on certain games such as san andreas played from the dvd or hdd is not loading properly and the scenery is replaced by blue emptyness.  thanks

Try finding the latest version of DVD2Xbox. You shouln't be waiting 2 hrs for a game.

Are you using an upgraded hard drive to save the xbox game too? Give me a little more info on the hard drive and speeds it has.

Are you copying from a scratched or damaged disc?  Recovering errors can make copying take lots of time.

Just cuz the HD used to work doesn't mean it's not the problem now, obviously something that used to work isn't working now.

Make sure all the cables are plugged in securely.

Maybe try to FTP from the disc to your computer, and then back to the xbox's hard drive.

I would recommend giving the UnleashX built in disc copier a try.

Well  Ill just to try and help you out a lil..I just modded my brothers xbox with a 160 GB Maxtor drive. I got it all loaded up and everything. WHen I was loading a game on it it took seriously 1 1/2 hrs to load it..I know it wasnt the DVD drive cause I just replaced the laser with a new one. Then luckily for him I had an extra 300 GB HDD, I figured I would try and load that one up. Well Now it only takes 10-15 mins to load a game on it..I say try and get a hold of another hard drive and swap it out and let us know how it turns out....

P.S. my brother is one lucky A$$....Thats a huge hard drive....

Just to expand a little on that, you may even want to try an entirely new ide cable...even pulling on them once can damage them, so don't dismiss it until you've tried it.  If you are seeing artifacts while the game is running, it could be hardware failing somewhere down the line...you may want to backup and reformat that hdd, and also run some tests on it using the software that may have came with it.
