There is a logo contest that just started over at xbox360lowdown.com. Here is a LINK to the info about the contest.

I have seen some of the things you guys have made here and think you could probably come up with somthing good.

Contest is looking good so far, we have gotten some really good logo's submitted. I just wanted to remind you all that there is only a couple days left.

yeah, most of the entries, aren't exactly "amazing" but i'd say

also, it seems like this is acting more like a banner contest, and not creating an ACTUAL new logo that would be used by the site. or is that thread supposed to be for designing banners, and not logo's?

i really don\'t understand why most of the entries aren\'t even in the xbox360 font.. you would think that would be appropiate, since it\'s a banner that\'s FOR xbox360, and it says \"xbox360\" right on it.
and as for teh bevel and emboss, EVERYONE KNOWS it\'s the koolest effect that anyone could apply to ANYTHING, so don\'t diss

that IS a pretty cool entry(the one that you like MD), but yes it is quite simple. the 2nd one in my post i think, would be the koolest one to see as a banner. either way...
i\'d enter... but to ME, it\'s the site\'s staff\'s job to create a nice logo... and since that\'s what you were TECHNICALLY asking for, is a logo, so what exactly ARE you trying to get? i\'d think about entering if it was for a banner...

Logos should be Iconic in nature... ideally they can be printed monochromatically.
The logo should be distinctive and instantly identifiable without any text.

The one MD posted is the only one out of all the submissions that really fits the bill, (could be better but it's the best one submitted IMO).

Think about automaker logos...

Dodge, Chrystler, Chevy, Mercedes, Honda, Infinity, Toyota, etc. etc. etc.

All of them can be created by painting a single solid form over another solid color.

You can then adapt it to 3D to give it some depth.

Some of them use more then one color like BMW or Ford but they're still very iconic in nature. which is why they work.
