I just got 3ds Max version 8 yesterday.  It's confused me so far, but I decided to follow a tutorial and ended up creating my first model: this lightsaber.

The glow still needs some work, but I think the handle is kinda good.  Tell me what you think.

Also, I animated it to have the light come out the top of it, but I only have it in AVI format and when I convert it to gif, it loses a lot of quality.

it looks pretty cool so far..
but... eh... i'm not sure how to put this... but i wouldn't put the "nub" on the bottom of the lightsaber... and make sure you get an on/off button on it soon

ya take the little ball thing off the bottom but it looks pretty good

Bottom is actually flat, the lighting gives it the effect that it is round...  Never really payed attention to it.

I've been trying to make an indian tomahawk, but I'm not that successful.  Everytime I screw up and end up making something different, such as this pimp cane:

for better lighting (ive done this in Photoshop and not sure how to translate it) make the center white with the outer glow of red, multiple layers with different outer glow gives it a nice affect

looks alright. the 'blade' could use more glow.
