Installing A New Hard Drive Without Cds

How did you do the PC/DVD drive trick?

My Xbox would not read my CDRWs so I had to do the PC/DVD drive trick

the way I did it was, whenever I was prompted to like say insert a CD... the Xbox drive opens...
So I open my PC DVD drive, put cd in it..

Press Xbox drive close, as when its almost closed, I close the PC DVD drive
it seemed to have no problem reading it this way
