on this tut im having problems with getting the whatever in to a triangle like it shows i am hold alt and ctrl like it say but cant get that triangle any body

Yeah, the HUGE one, which for some reason is no longer showing up, none are, even though the tags are there.

I assume for the other one like 3, you simply used Color Balancing/ Hue and Saturation to change the color, right?

hmmm... not TOTALLY sure, but i think i know how they did it:
first they duplicated the image(in this case the colored image with the car) then they duplicated the layer(CTRL+J) and they went to image->mode->desaturate(i think that's the menu path, not near PS right now) go to filters->sketch->trace edges(once again, not sure about the path)... then it SHOULD be looking sortof like a drawing(other drawing filters can be applied) then just put a layer mask over it, and choose the gradient fill(SHIFT+G(until it selects it)) then click somewhere in the corner, and drag u pand to the left(not too far) and release... you SHOULD recieve something close to that effect.
