Here is another sig, just me testing out some stuff and practicing more with brushes.  I was also playing with DROP SHADOW and the LENS FLARE.  I like the drop shadow, I should be able to use it in some other stuff.

The background is still a little plain, though.  I need to improve on those.

EDIT: I subtly threw my name in the upper left hand corner, I didn't want it to stand out too much.

I think you need to swap up some of your backgrounds, they all seem to look the same but with different colors.

And that font just doesnt seem to fit nor does that red seem all that suitable.

But I do like the lens flare effect  happy.gif  Your improving drastically

the lense flare would look beter if it was like, touching the sword to make it look like a glare coming off the blade. a 1 px black stroke will make the font easier to read. nothing big, but you should flip the sword horizontaly, put the "live by the sword" on the top left and the "die by the sword on the bottom right. since we read things from top left to bottom right, it makes more sence to arange the sig like that.

Okay, MooderX, I liked the basic font (it's a gothic font, according to dafont, which I think seemed to go well with the sword), but I switched the color to a deeper red and added a gradient stroke to go along with the lens flare.  I thought it made it look like the outside of the text was being lighted up.  And yes, my BGs did all look alike (even though I wasn't trying to do that), so it got overhauled.

h34d5h0tz, I changed the lens flare, and it does look better + flipped the sword render.  I did a 2 px gradient for the reasons mentioned above, and moved the text so it's more readable.

In addition, after redoing the background, I upped the brightness a little and decreased the contrast, which I thought helped make it look more as if the light was brightening the picture.

Any thoughts on the new version?

Once again, I want to thank you all for your kind words, but especially your criticisms.  I definately think I'm much better, and I'm most importantly having a good time.

Move the font in a little so its not off the edge.
Get rid of that horrible 2px gradient stroke around the words.

Done.  The text then looked plain, so I added a 1 px border around it and a drop shadow.

In this pick, I did a little beveling and liked the outcome.

Which of the two do you guys like better, and why?

The second one, I too like the beveling on the words.

Yeah, I really like the way that this one turned out.
Thanks for the help.
