I personally use the nyko wireless controller, it comes in a two pack and typically costs around $40 depending on the retailer.
I have a few friends that have the mad cats controllers and all seem pretty pleased with them. I guess it depends on how rough you are with the controller itself. The nykos that I have are actually pretty durable, they've been thrown across the room numerous amounts of times (due to fight night round 3 and the godfather) and still work as if they were brand new.
From what I understand the mad cats are pretty durable as well.
I also have another friend that had a pelican wireless controller and he said it only lasted a couple of days so i would probibly avoid that brand.

As far as battery life, im not sure about the pelicans, but the nykos and mad cats are pretty good with battery life (since im not sure if they make self recharging batteries). My nyko battery life is around four months before replacement and im not sure about the mad cats, I think my friend said they lasted him around six months but i cant recall off hand. Even so, both the mad cats and nyko controllers have a built in feature that shuts the controller off after a couple of minutes of no game play so as not to run the batteries out.

I'd suggest googling some user reviews on different wireless controllers and see which one best suites you.

There is no comparison, get a Logitech Precision Wireless.

There is no such thing as a "play and charge kit" for Xbox1 wireless controllers that I know of though.
