QUOTE
Many mod chip makers doubt even the existence of the 1.5, believing it to be a refurbished version of 1.4 motherboards with changes made to the LPC to prevent modding. This revision is exceedingly rare, if it exists at all.

While we're speaking of non-existant versions, there's no such thing as a 1.5 either wink.gif
So.. we have:
1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, and 1.6/1.6b(same as 1.6 but with hynix ram)
Any and all "1.7s" are just 1.6s and any and all "1.5s" are just 1.4s.

do i need a modchip?
There is no way you have a v 1.8 XBox. They don't exist (yet...?). 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.6, and 1.6b are valid versions. (Technically there is no such thing as a 1.5 XBox: some websites such as XBox-Scene (http://www.xbox-scene.org) mention a 1.5 XBox, but it appears to basically be a 1.4).
