I have a non-modded 1.5.  I'm horrible at Soldering and I have a solderless setup for 1.0-1.5 (the 1.5's D0 point is moved so you have to solder it).

My friend has a 1.1 XBOX w/ no dvd drive in it.  Can I simply pull out my 1.5 DVD ROM and toss it into his 1.1 XBOX w/o a problem?  This would make modding this 100x easier to not have someone solder it for me!

Yes xbox dvd drives are completely unmodded swappable.
If i were you i would find someone who can solder in your area.

Is there a major difference between the 1.1 and 1.5 XBOX that would make it more feasable?

I mean I already have a flashed 2.6ce chip (used the programmer on it to put 3.3 and 5035 on the banks) and the chip/etc is all ready to go.  It may be easier to pick up the box from him since he's 5mins away and just put my drive in (since its taken out of my box currently for modding anyhow) and put it into his.

I work 4x10's so I wont have a day off til next week except at night when Im home from work and I want to get XBMC on this box asap.

If there's some major performance difference or something definitaly I'll have someone solder it... but if its just  a matter of me taking apart his XBOX (whole 10mins) then I'd rather avoid going the solder route as its already a pain for me to get time during the day to do that.

there is no major advantage to switching from a 1.1 to a 1.5 or in reverse...Your harddrive must be unlocked before it can be placed into a different xbox, or you have to install your modchip in his and then use a new unlocked(lockable) harddrive...

Actually a softmod caused all this...lol.  I'm putting in a WD 120gig drive (is able to be setup) and AI 3.0.

What happened was I softmodded using the NDURE exploit on the site.  Installed XBMC and it worked beautiful, but I wanted a bigger drive so I started in on the Softmod drive upgrade steps.  I was backing up my EEPROM and was playing around in ConfigMagic and guess what I did?  I STUPIDLY unlocked my drive and restarted my computer.  So of course the XBOX started up with an unlocked drive error and my EEPROM ended up getting hosed... so basically unless I went through hell and back to relock that drive, it seemed easeir to just toss in a modchip..lol.

Now this is happening with my MODCHIP

that's a bummer, i honestly would tell you to just buy a $10 soldering iron and $3 electrical solder from radio shack, take your time and just be careful, it is hard to hurt the xbox...But it is possible and i will hold no responsiblity for any actions you take no matter how stupid with a soldering iron to your xbox motherboard....lol, just follow a tutorial and take your time, might take you 3 hours the first time (took me 1 hour but i had previous experience)...

The 1.5 was a limited creation.  According to the link they only produced a few lines of the 1.5 then went back to the 1.4.

There is actually, apparently, a difference between the 1.4 and 1.5.  The D0 pin on the top of the board on the 1.5 is filled in, and its open on the 1.4.  The board design is identical, but you cant just slide in a solderless d0 connector on the 1.5 box due to the fact the hole is lacquered over.  I found this out today when I couldn't figure out why my, what I thought was a 1.4 board, wasn't able to use the d0 non-solder setup.  Then I went to Team-xecuters forums and found a picture of someone w/ a 1.5 and their board has the same covered up d0.

If you refer to the thread link below it'll show you a picture of a standard 1.2-1.5 box ... and then mine.  Mine being the 1.5 you'll notice the D0 pin slot designated for the solderless mods is filled in.

That link to the xbox-scene thing you posted is very old and was posted because (at the time) people began reporting "new" 1.5 motherboards. Tons of stuff has happened since then and numerous long threads later... it's been determined that 1.5 motherboards NEVER existed.

Same thing with the 1.7 motherboards... they don't exist.

Did you happen to test the LPC with a multimeter before trying to install the solderless adapter? I bet you didn't bother to try that.

Funny though... everyone and their grandma claims to have one of these "ultra rare" 1.5's.

IF 1.5's actually do exist, they're more rare than all the LE's currently available.

There is no way you have a v 1.8 XBox. They don't exist (yet...?). 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.6, and 1.6b are valid versions. (Technically there is no such thing as a 1.5 XBox: some websites such as XBox-Scene (http://www.xbox-scene.org) mention a 1.5 XBox, but it appears to basically be a 1.4).

You may be right as this box is a repair so it's possable that it's the result of the guy who fucked it up.
