That is hilarious. You know that you are going to be working with polygonal based graphics which is the older brother of vector graphics. Don't tell me you are throwing your money away at on of those fake and bake game design schools.

I'm sorry I was talking about vector based work in photoshop and stuff not 3DStudioMax if thats what you mean. I really don't understand vector based stuff at the moment so thats why I want to stick to what I know for the time being.

My curiosity kicked in, and I had to run a search with that phrase (no quotation marks). The first result gave me a tutorial on replicating an owl (WTF?). The second one, however, gave me a decent explanation of vectors in PS. It's a little old because it's based on PS6... *wolf howls* Although, for some damn reason, it was "added" to the site June 30, 2005. You can read it here.

Thanks for the vector information it might be somthing I cover during my second year I will certainly mention it to my teachers. But this logo needs to look simple and easy on the eye, I was just looking at the EA logo. That looks even more basic that mine.

Sorry to bring up an old topic again but I was away on vacation. The logo looks good, if anyone has taken graphic design classes you know that logo's should be rather simple,(although it depends on what it's for of course) anyways I would say it looks pretty good as it is, probably shouldn't be too complicate if youre going to put it in 3dsmax I would think. Anyways I'm hoping to get into game design if not some sort of graphic design career. I know web design is cut throat since there are thousands of people who can do it and do it well but does anyone know if game design (modeling characters, etc) is just as cut throat as web design or the IT field? I was also looking at coding which the companies treat you like garbage since coders are so plentiful. Just woundering if anyone has any experience with that since I need to make a choice soon because I don't have the time to practice both.

I can't compare it to those fields, but I have some friends that are trying to break out on their own and are having a vicious time, and we live in Miami. I can't even imagine what it's like in California. I start my animation classes this fall. I'm going to have to work 10 times as hard as those before me because I'm getting into this field very late in the game. The huge benefit is that the software available now is much more malleable than their progenitors. My advice is to do what is fun for you. I know that sounds like a simple answer, but it's all about how much you enjoy the work you do. If you enjoy it, then it won't even seem like work. Look at all of the gaming mags around. I doubt the game reviewers find their jobs boring. Most don't even do it well. A lot of the reviews I've read are laden with misspellings and grammatical disasters (there to show possession, their meant as in they are, etc.). I think I went off on a slight tangent, but you know what I mean.

it really takes a lot of observation of a lot of logos to see devices and styles.

to be frank, i think you should start over. usually the font shold be the biggest thing in a logo (mostly).  look at a lot of different logos, try to figure out what you want to accomplish, how people will see it, and hardest of all keep it simple.

i have made many many logos, ill have to scrounge to find some, but ill post some examples that work, some that dont, and some that work but break rules.

You dont always have to do a circle type logo either, you could try something else like whatever your business is. I've done some logos for people and animations of their logos and most of the time their pretty simple but have something to do with their business in some way. I did one for this loan company and they had a little like house on their logo and i did an animation for it i'll try to dig up.

well it was done in fireworks text then I did convert text to vector or somthing. But yes I have been doing vector stuff and that should scale to any size now without distortion. Should also be easier to animate in 3DSM.
