I actually like that, well everything except the bottom i where the dot goes up into the o, but other than that simple yet good.

Ok, I'll show you an example instead. Here's one I made that's extremely simple but works. I didn't use special shapes or anything like that. Just rectangles, the Times New Roman font, and a little bit of path work. It took me about three minutes in Illustrator. I'm not bragging; I'm just saying don't over-complicate things.
