I Can't Lock My New Hard Drive

Hi I went through all the steps for copying xbox drive but when it comes to locking says dev/fd0 mount is write protected read only. and won't let me lock the drive even using the a:disk of eeprom.bin. I have a maxtor 6L160PO 160gig drive. Please help

I'm fairly certain the model cannot be locked.
Quite a few Maxtor drives can't be locked, and if you do manage to lock it, it can cause some really weired problems.

..the drive should be lockable.

I haven't had problems with locking maxtor drives yet.
Perhaps the jumper is not set right (set to master). Some post even mentiones jumping both master+CS with 2 jumpers.
Any progress?
