128 Mb Memory Upgrade: Patching Of Xbes
« on: April 01, 2006, 01:00:00 PM »

I have have read many times that you need to 'delimit' each and every xbe file run once your xbox has been upgraded to 128 mb of ram.

I've searched the web, checked this forum and others, with no clear answer on this.
There are bioses that support and detect 128 megs of ram in the xbox but that is required to even use 128mb.

Is there any solution to this nuisance of ftping and patching every xbe file?
Are there any bios or edits to a bios that can autorun each xbe in 128 mode?

I know this patching on the fly has been done with the media check contained in xbes, so can this be done with the ram limit?  any help would be great.

thanks.

Well I can tell you that retail xbox games will only use 64 mb of ram, even if you patch it the xbe and you have the 128 ram upgarde it stll uses 64 mb of ram.If you have some xbox debug games, like halo 2 debug than it will use 128 mb of ram.I only know two people that have halo 2 debug games and there very hard to find.Thats why when people do the 128 upgrade they use it for development, emulators or running linux.

The whole point of the patch is to let the games use all 128mb of ram. The patch would be pointless if it did nothing...

Well I know what Im talking about, the patch does remove the limit but a retail game is still coded to use 64 mb of ram.Like I said before, alot of debug games will require 128 of ram to run correctly.I know from experience from using dev and debug xbox's which of course has 128 mb of ram as standard.

i read that in games like halo2 that the fps during stressful times stays more consistant with the 128mb upgrade than without
dont say the delimiter wont do anything

I never said it wont do anything, when it does work it not very noticeable.

Thanks for posting your experiences but this is already well known that retail games use only 64mb.

Does anyone have any ideas on adding 128 patching on the fly to a bios?

Could it be added?  Sure.

Will it be added?  Dunno, you'll want to send a request to the groups that work on the modchip BIOSes.

New ideas for BIOS hacks thread

Try #ind-bios on efnet for any suggestions/ feature requests.  Try contacting Team Xecuter and ask there.

Good luck!
