Well out of personal experience, i know that the xbox support techs can sometimes say some pretty stupid stuff. so whats the funniest thing that theyve told you?
my best qoute is from last year, not long after the 360 launch. i was still playing on my regular xbox and M$ had just released an update, well soon after the update, i couldnt connect, so i called. the error it was giving me was that the xbox was modified, but it wasnt. here is a short version of the conversation...

Me- "Yea, my xbox wont connect to live"
tech- "thats not good, can i get your gamertag and info?"
(i give it to him, he verifies it all..)
tech- "well theres nothing wrong with the account, what is the error its giving you?"
me- "well it tells me my xbox is modified, but i know its not."
tech- "well how do you know its not modified?"
me- "um, i bought it brand new and i havent done anything to it to modify it."
tech- "so youre sure its not modified, right?"
me- "yea, its not modified at all, completely stock"
tech- "ok...(pauses), well heres is whats happening. the xbox consoles are modifying themselves."
me- "what?"
tech- "yea, the consoles are modifying themselves and thats why you cant connect to xbox live."
me- "so what now?"
tech- "youll have to buy another console."
me- "so i wont beable to play on xbox live at all again?"
tech- "well not on that console."

at that point i ask to talk to his manager and they tell me it was becuase of the update and that theyre sorry and theyre working to fix it.

but seriously "The Xbox console are modifying themselves."

me: I cannot get my PD0 save from my hard drive onto my Mem Unit.
Them: Hmm that's odd, have you tried copying it from your hard drive onto your memory card?
me: That's the whole point of why I am calling you.  Unles you know of another way of doing it, yeah that's why I am calling.
them:  Well it seems that you have to make an offline profile to play offline modes on the console itself.
Me: Hold On one second.
Them: OK
Me: OK i fixed it myself, thanks for your help.
Them: You.. you fixed it?  How
Me: i put in the game and changed the setting to automatically save to my memory unit.
Them:  You can do that?
Me: Obviously.
Them:  SO wait what did you do?
Me: I just changed the auto save from the HDD ro the Mem Unit.
Them:  I don't think it is possible to do that.
Me: Your right, I am Jesus making my own videogame, and apparently you are losing.  Thanks for wasting (looks at phone) 42 mins and 17 no 18 no 20 seconds of my time.  Click.

I wonder if these people even know what they are doing tech support for.

Me:  (6/6/06)  I just updated and literally 5 seconds after it rebooted my 360 froze.  Now every time I boot my xbox it freezes in the first 5 minutes.
Support:  hmm that's not good
Me:  Yea it seems that the update broke my xbox and thats not cool at all
Support:  Yea it doesn't seem right at all.  Let me go check on this with my supervisor.
Me:  (waiting)
Me:  (still waiting)
Me:  (10 minutes later)
Support:  We have been getting a number of calls about this issue.  We are faxing over the issue to MS and they will create a patch to fix the issue.
Me:  How am I supposed to get the patch if my xbox keeps freezing
Support:  A patch will be created to fix the issue, you will be able to download the patch on xbox live
Me:  But won't my xbox freeze before I am able to get the patch
Support:  The patch that is being created will fix your freezing problem
Me:  Thanks a lot for you help
Support:  Was there anything else....

(I had this xbox since december and was out of warranty.  Sucks cause I had to buy a new one)

Me- When I put a game or DVD movie in, it just goes from saying "Open tray" to "Reading" then back to "Open tray".
Tech- Your disc drive is broken then. You will need to take it to the place you purchased it to fix it.
Me- I bought it at Wal-Mart. Are you telling me that Wal-Mart is able to fix your product?
Tech- Yes, Wal-Mart wil fix it right there.
Me- OK, bye (not believing the crap I'm hearing).

I used to work for a Korean company.. Not as big as MS but close... I worked in the call center and got to monitor the reps calls.   It's was a joke. I could not believe how dumb people. People that worked for us were dumb but the customers.

I will never forget the top 5 calls.

5) Customer waited on hold 50 minutes. Yelling at me his vcr did not work. Sir is it plugged in.
 uhh thats what makes this work?

4) My tv is broken. It will not turn on. Read me the serial number please. I cant see it's dark in the room. Turn the light on. Thats broken also. Do you have any power. Ohh thats been out for a few hours. Now back to how to fix my tv.

3) Your microwave gave me and my family scabies.  Sir scabies is a skin to skin contact disese only. Try showering.

2) Sir your tv is not under warranty because Roaches infestating the tv voids the warranty.

1) (lady cried the hole time and was a liar)  I need my tv replaced under warranty. Why miss? Cause my husband and son were driving with my birthday present a new tv and a tracker trailer hit their car and killed them both, I rused to the scene of the accident and all I could find was pieces of broken plastic that said " your company name" and their dead bodies.
I called the lady back. We need a copy of their death certificates and I will buy you a new tv out of the kindness of my heart.  
  You should not need that.. Just ship the tv...


People in call centers may say stupid things, But most people in  general are DUMB.  Trust me I talked to 100 people a day over 3 years... Most are stupid.

After an hour of trying to recover my xbl account on 360 I caught the tech in a lie and called him out on it.  He ended up calling me a SOB and the problem was never resolved by tech support in over a month.  Eventually I fixed it some how.

When my friend called to report his 360 was locking up everytime he booted it they told him it was the video cable he was using. Even though when unplugging the video cable it still showed the red lights of death.

So most people are stupid who call, but these guys are saying the tech support guys are dumb. MS tech guys are pretty buy the book. Unlike the dlink guys, who will pull some stuff. Come on, most of us are smart enough to be a tech support guy, lol.

I called  MS because my xbox.com gamercard wasn't updating my recently played games.

MS: It's not updating online?

Me: No, the most recent game on there I played a month ago.

MS: I'll put the order in and it will be fixed in 72 hours.  Anything else I can help you with?

I called back and the other lady I talked to fixed it for me in 5 minutes.  That girl was an idiot.
