who knows... maybe it's a beastily kind-of woman do you think?

She could be the hulk in disguise and when the moon shines on her she turns into this green-machine of doom that runs linux on her 360 and bashes through the kernels as if they were digital butter! but I guess the term green-machine is a bit outdated since the 360 is now white.... unfortunately it's now turning a bit mainstreamed and modernized clean look... gah... I liked the old black n green machine better

I have an old Compaq laptop that has exactly all of those things, does that mean it should play Xbox games?

The original Xbox runs a CPU based on the Intel Celeron CPU
Actually, it's a coppermine Intel Pentium III with a halved L2 cache.  The 128KB L2 cache is what makes people assume it's a celeron.

My friend has a modded 360 that got the dreaded 3 rings of death a week ago. I read a post on here about putting it in the oven to reflow the solder connections and figured why not give it a shot as he was just going to toss it out anyways. I removed the motherboard from the case and cooked it in the oven and low and behold it has been working for him the last 3 days. I'm still just completely shocked that it worked. It did however melt the little blue eject button for the DVD drive in the process so he has to eject it with a toothpick but hey it works.

This one comes out of the depths of hell not visible to the regular membership, but I thought it was worthy of this thread:

The original guy is a complete idiot, reading the rest of the thread is torturous, but I quite liked the reply.

i had this ROTC instructor come to me once. i was talkin about modded xbox's and how you do it and all...he told me this:

"I got an xbox from someone. It has the X-tender case on it, two dvd drives, and two hard drives. I have some xbox360 games that i play on it sometimes. Both DVD drives are Samsungs, but only the one on the left will play the 360 games. so i play them there, and then i select the second hdd from unleashx, reboot, and put in my xbox1 game on the right, and play it. And no, you cant put emulators on an xbox. its not a computer. only computers can play emulators."

I brought the xbox in, booted it, loaded snexbox, and he was silent as a banned member.

Is it cheating pulling stuff the newbie forum?

QUOTE(PTH @ May 31 2007, 01:12 PM) *

not sure how to explain this but i want to put linux on my 360, but be able to play 360 games in a window like you would on a PC, sort of like a emulator. is this possible or even with linux on can you only run the games in locked-down, fullscreen mode? simply put i need to hook dll's so i can modify my game and be able to access my programs console while the game is running, hence why i need it to be windowed or at least a way to switch back and forth without shutting either down.

running a 360 instance inside of linux, on the 360 itself doesn't sound like something a regular noob would ask, nore pertaining to dll hooking and modifying.
