No Video/audio On A 1.6 Sealed Case No Mod
« on: August 30, 2013, 04:07:00 PM »

like bong water said your probably looking at a corrupted eeprom.
try flashing a new eeprom.

a diferent cause of a black screen is when some one installs a soft mod on a hard modded system..
or enigma is set wrong.. or other similar video based issues.
if you can boot a recovery dvd like hexen. and that lets you see the screen "it does take a min or 2 to fully boot" then its probably a softmod installed on a hard modded system.

and you can get similar issues if your ram is not 100% but you would usually get a frag well "amber" with that.

When it comes to a hard modded console..
you can also get the same symptoms due to an LPC error..

usually one or 2 pins not making good contact.

Its a not a great story how i noticed that one but i will tell it any way.

i mod a lot of consoles, and when i tsop flash themn i usualy boot up from a mod chip then softmod and after that flash the tsop..

one day i booted up the console with my mod chip. "home made solderless adapter" and i decided that i was going to reflash the mod chip 1st.
"mod chip had m8+ bios on it. and i reflashed with ind bios"
all went well but when i rebooted it was black screen..
it took me about 20 minuets to figure out that one of the pins on my home made solderless adapter did not connect properly

Funny thing is.. The m8+ bios booted fine like that, but the ind bios black screened..
i dont remember which pin it was. I would like to think it was Lframe "3" but that wouldnt explain it. because if that was true then i should get black screen on 1.3 xboxes.. but i dont..

any way thats my story
you can get a black screen with a hard mod because of a bad connection on the lpc.
Some people will tell you it will frag but thats not 100% true. MOST of the time it will frag. some times you will get a black screen..

p.s

congrats..
i just noticed this thread is like 7 years old!
what are you thinking?!?!?

I have 2 1.6 xbox consoles here

both came to me unopened cases, and not working.
they have green led, but no video or audio

I have replaced the collector on one to see if that would fix it, but it did not.

normally I would use the "search" function but, due to reasons beyond my control, the search no longer works.

Sounds like the box's are in a coma because of a corrupted xbox bios. If you install a chip it will work, because it wont be booting the stock bios off the tsop. It will be booting a hacked bios off the lpc. You could do a 29 wire mod and reflash the tsop.

yeah its all built in, was thinking it was the collector resistor that they are so prone to blowing out, but I replaced it to no avail

chipped no luck

I would try a hd cable but I dont have one or something to plug it into if I did, my tv is WAYYYYYYY too old for HD lol

You should attempt to boot a linux kernal that doesn't require a working serial eeprom to boot since that's the part softmodders fry before handing it off to the experts. That's why you can't afford chips with only a hacked MS kernal these days thanks to all the softmodders.
