Xbox 1.6b + Spiderchip V1.1 Not Working
« on: February 14, 2006, 11:25:00 PM »

First, this is my first attempt at modding an x-box, but when it didn't work, I had a friend check it and re-do, he's done a few of them.  Same results.  I have a version 1.6b xbox (according to all the checks I've found), and I got a solderless spiderchip version 1.1 to install in it.  When the spider chip is installed (I followed their tutorial to the letter), I get a solid red DVD eject button, and it does not boot.  If I flip the switch to turn off the mod chip, it will boot and run properly from the M$ bios.  One of the forums I found had one person who had this issue, and they contributed it to a bad connection to the board, which caused the bios not to boot.  I think we've ruled that out....all connections were gone over by an electronics professional, a few were fixed because the solder joints were not the best, but the issue remains.  I was also sent a post where someone had this same issue, and it said that the issue is the Cromwell bios on the spiderchip, it is not compatible with the version 1.6b boards.  Can anyone verify that, and is there a work-around?  I'd rather not pull the mod chip (again) and find an older version xbox to flash it if I can do something with it still in my xbox.

Spiderchip claims that version 1.1 is compatible with xbox version 1.0 through 1.6b....I sent a description of my issue to their tech support, but have not heard back yet.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
