I've seen many laptops with cracked or damaged screens that work on another monitor. Not really THAT surprising.

Yeah, if the screen was just cracked or something then that would be no big deal. But if you picked up a laptop and pulled on it until it snapped in half across the screen hinge, you wouldn't expect that it would be just fine with it and run as normal. Well, I wouldn't anyway. But then again I've never pulled apart a laptop.
