Nigerian Scambaiting With An Xbox Twist
« on: January 23, 2004, 11:38:00 PM »

I got another one of those annoying Nigerian scam e-mails again today.  I happened to have Xboxes on the brain at the time and the following was the result:

Greetings,

You propose an intriguing business agreement to which I will have to endeavor future thought.  Foremost in concern to me prior to the initiation of a financial transaction is the acquisition of a MS Xbox System.  I am in correct understanding that one cannot safely transfer funds online without a proper Xbox LiveĀ™ billing account.  Any assistance in the acquisition of a MS Xbox System would be most helpful in the formation of a business relationship.  Thank you and God bless.

I get quite a few of these scams, somehow I get a feeling they use the DNS records for harvesting e-mail addresses since I never got them before I owned a domain.  At any rate, WordSpy has a pretty good writeup about scambaiting and links to sites with some pretty funny pictures of some scammers.

That would be my honeypot e-mail address - it's *supposed* to get spam.  Interestingly enough, he hasn't written back.  That kinda sucks cause I was hoping to have some fun with him.

I guess you never heard the saying "Don't try to bullshit a bullshitter".  wink.gif
