Suspect charged in dress-up burglary attempt

user posted image 12-28-03
GRESHAM - A 37-year-old Portland man is charged with burglary in what police say was a cross-dressing caper gone wrong.

Carlos Castillo arrived at his Gresham home Friday night to find the lights on and music playing, he also heard a man coughing inside. Castillo lives with his mother, who was on vacation at the time.

Castillo called police and proceeded inside the house, armed with a stick. It was then he saw suspect Chris Kemp dressed in Castillo's mother's clothing in the kitchen, moving around appliances. Clothing was also strewn about the house.

Kemp took an amount of money that was taken from the home out of his pocket, and complied with Castillo's orders to wait for police to arrive.

Kemp told Gresham Police he had been employed to clean the house. Castillo, however, denied knowing the suspect.

Kemp was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on $50,000 bail.

He looks like he got smacked with a shovel.

Dude when I went to high school there was this kid that looked EXACTLY like Beavis, he even kind of talked like him (raspy voice). We all called him Beavis, but he hated it.
