the egg... if you believe in evolution then some animals very similar to chickens met, fell in love and thier genes came together and formed the animal that we classify as the chicken today...

while they werent chickens themselves, the combination of thier attributes make up the modern chicken...

if you believe only in creationism, then i feel sorry for you...  wink.gif

What about test tube chickens? Are they not chickens? They are chickens, just like all the rest. You dont wan tt ohurt their feeligs...., do you? WEll?.... Do you?
And what about an egg that I eat in the morning? No chickens ever gonna come from there.

I prefer to think of the chicken being first. There is no particular logic to this, nor reason. In fact, I just flipped a coin. But it satisfies what limited curiosity I have in this question. So

Notice you said we just finally mapped the human genome a few years. So the technology has always been available. We just didn't know about it. Therefore someone millions of years ago could have found it also and used that technology to create everything on this planet.

WTF are you talking about?  You make it sound like people in the old west could have been performing Gene Therapy experiments.  Human intelligence has just gotten far enough.  The technology hasn't always been available.

depends....

1.  a chicken did not sart as a chicken (evolution)

2. Think of different animals mating together (to create chicken)

3. When was the chicken first discovered?

I say egg came first as the egg hatched the chicken.

think like this  (my point 2 )

if a cat mated with a pidgeon and created a baby you would have some fracky ass bird.

chickens and turkeys are bloody messed up looking..

jesus christ hoppy, my post was an exercise in sci-fi/fanasy-sarcastic craziness, sort of to sum up this whole thread. And as for 99235, I believe he's implying that anythings possible and how do you know what you're saying?

I think its all quite relevant actually. The questio of the chicken and egg really is just a question about how anything can be known. and as for your question about what if everything I knew was proven wrong tomorrow, I believe that nothing can be known or proven, so I exist somewhat with that idea in mind.

but seriously if i remember right any evolutionary advances happen in the embrionic state.
therefore the chicken would have been developed inside the egg therefore the egg came first

According to evolution, it would technically be the egg, but its not exactly a chicken egg, its the egg of the species that eventually evolved into the chicked over time. Each mutation building with each new egg from each new species. So the answer is, the egg.
