i heard this one from a nerdy kind in physics...

"one day all the scientists in heaven were playing hide and seek. einstein was the seeker, the rest went to hide. einstein counted to 100 whiile everyone ran off, except Newton. newton drew a 1m x 1m square on the ground and stood on it. when einstein finished counting, he saw newton right away and said 'newton's out'. Newton said, 'no i'm not newton. im newton over metre's squared, so im Pascal'"

Pascal (Pa) is a unit of measure for Pressure, which is in force (newtons) per unit area (metre's squared). the Pascal is named after the scientist named "Pascal".

omg the same guy told me another one today...this time its worse...and can be confusing if you're not familiar with basic chemistry:

a polar bear jumped into the water and disappeared forever. Why?
because he's polar, so he dissolves in water.

...when he told this, only the really smart ppl with insanely high grades found this funny...

heres another one:

they locked a mathematician in a room with a can of food and piece of paper and a pen . he's supposed to find his way out of the room before he starves. few days later, they went to check on him and went into the room. the piece of paper had number written on it, and then they heard a sound from the can. they opend it and found the mathematician. he said, "I'm a topologist and i got a negative sign wrong in my calculations."

get it?

when i heard it i was like WTF.....

i like the polar bear one

hehehe, get it, its cause the water is a NON-POLAR substance and the POLAR bear went in and then his molecules DIFFUSED to where the concentration gradient of POLAR BEAR molecules was LOWER, but since the water was COLD, it slowed the diffusion down... and i better get back to my bio HW.......

actually, although you got the joke, you have the molecular properties confused....

water is a highly polar molecule (due to the highly electronegative O atom) so it is a polar substance. the polar bear is also polar (according to the joke) so the water separates the bear (due to dipole attractions) and he dissolves...

how do i know this, and why all these jokes? i just had a chem midterm on intermolecular properties....and the jokes are from others in the same class
