My Job By Shadowjin
« on: July 11, 2003, 12:02:00 PM »

I figured since I hear some retarded shit on the phone all day at work, perhaps I'll share it with the rest of you so you may laugh.

First, some info about my job.  I handle reservations for State Parks in Georgia.  Since this is a tech geek forum, I know many of you don't know what the outside is or even that things like nature and trees exist.  Don't worry, you're not missing much.  Anyway, onto my first of many stories....

Volume 1 (Officially Created)

07/11/03 - 15:38est

We get a call from a "fella" who would like to know about "huntin" and "fishin" in the State Parks.

Now as perhaps some of you know, fishing is allowed in some of the parks, but hunting is NOT allowed.

The customer is told he cannot hunt any wild animals in the park.  He responds by exclaiming that he can't get in too much trouble hunting there.

The customer is then told that it is against state and federal law to hunt wild animals within the confines of a state or federal park.  He then asks about using his sling shot so no one can hear him.

He is then told he cannot bring weapons of any kind, especially those used in the hunting and trapping of wild animals.  He waits for a second...

...then asks what if he were to kill a deer using a fishing pole?

Quote : "But damn, I wanted ta go down there, get me some bucks."

Volume 2 : More Hunting Retardness...

Okay, so again, this one deals with Hunting, however, not in a state park.

This guy calls up asking about getting a class scheduled for a Hunter's Safety Education course for his son.

He decides to sign his son up and makes all the arrangements, giving me his child's personal information.  Right before he gives me his credit card to pay for the transaction fee.....

"It's okay that my child is legally blind and can't see at all, right?"

okay...now i've heard it all....

Volume 4 : Live Organ Transplants

Okay, it seems that most of my stories have to do with hunting, which is strange....perhaps there's a connection between hunters and the idiocy I hear daily on the phone?

Anyway, so I get an old man call up, of course, wanting to sign his grandson up for a Hunter's Safety Education course, and he gets crabby about the transaction fee, but finally...he gets over it.

While entering in the grandson's information, I come across the entry spot for his Social Security Number.  Now we all know that if you live in the US, to do anything you MUST have a SSN.  Usually you aqquire one of these at birth if born in the US, not to mention to attend any sort of school, a person MUST present his/her SSN when signing up for classes (even at a kindergarten level.)  So, when asked about his grandson's SSN, the old man replies...

"He doesn't have one yet...He hasn't been assigned one."

Now, despite that the child is 15 years old and the grandfather confirms that he has been attending school, the grandfather becomes furious since I can't sign the child up for a course.  He calls me numerous things including hateful and vicious.  He then proceeds to tell me...

"I hope if feels good to be such an asshole! BYE"

and people wonder why I don't care much for the elderly...
