Xdk Upgraded Hard Drive
« on: February 08, 2006, 05:54:00 PM »

So I came accross an XDK and now I own it.   I put an 80 gig HDD that I have lying around inside the box but I'm having a little bit of a problem when it comes to formatting the F: drive.  Initially I cloned the existing XDK hdd with xbhdm and interestingly enough it worked (config magic wouldn't copy the eeprom).

Well it worked to a point.  The eeprom copied over fine (through xbhdm) and the xbox dash files.  When I put the cloned xdk drive in the xdk box it booted up as a normal stock xbox, not to the xdk launcher.  So I put in the "magic disk" and restored the HDD to stock.

So now it sits as if it has the original hard drive in it with the xdk launcher on it with the F: drive not avaliable to me.  I got the Dev Kit Hack and Ftped the fdrive.dxt and the cdrive.dxt to the E:/dxt folder (that I had to create?) and rebooted the HD.  THe readme said this would be the trick and that I would have access to an F: partition now.  Well its not.

Things you should know before you try to help (if you please would):  I cannot FTP to the xdk launcher for some reason?  I have changed all the network settings plenty of times but I still cant gain FTP access to the box through the xdk launcher.  I can only gain Ftp access through avalaunch which I installed via a slayer.

Secondly, I also loaded Evox and UnleashX on this dev kit but everytime I try to launch it, it says unable to launch .xbe or something and kicks me back to the xdk dashboard.

Thirdly, you have probably figured out by now that I know little about all of this so try to speak as clearly/easily/elementary as possible.

Thanks!

Well, the XDK Launcher doesn't have FTP, you can only browse through the Xbox Neighborhood.  And make sure your box is setup to run all xbes, no just debug ones.
