Hdd To Pc
« on: February 08, 2006, 10:57:00 AM »

I had a 250 gig HDD in my xbox, I unlocked and formated it on my PC.  It's only giving me 128 gigs tho.  Anyone, know how to get the rest (G: drive partition?)?  Do I have to format it on my xbox?

Make sure the drive is unlocked or your will get an error when attempting to access the drive from the PC. Plug it into your PC's IDE as normal and access the Administrator Tools from the Control Panel. Load up Computer Management and find the 250g drive. It will list it as having an unknown file system. You need to delete the entire FatX (Xbox) partition. Then recreate a new windows partition and format it in a Windows compatible filesystem (Fat32 or NTFS). You will then have the entire drive at your disposal.

Thanks for the help guys, but I still got 128.  I can't connect to my xbox cuz i dont have a router anymore, so no format thru evox.  I did however do the format thru my PC and it only showed the 128 partition, didnt give me any options to format the rest... Is an evox format my only option or am I doin somethin wrong on the PC.

your computer has to be capable of using such a size of hard drive, and also, the OS must be set up for it. i suggest you try partition magic. its a great little app, and i use it on all HDs i format.

So I think my PC is limiting my drive space. Is there anyway to change this limit, or is it based on the motherboard?

There shouldn't be a limit, other than the number of drives you can stuff in there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif).

But download partition magic, and see if it picks anything up as a seperate partition.
