While I agree that there's a HUGE obesity problem in the US (no pun intended) which is much more apparant when you grow up there, then leave for 5 years, and go back, I think taxing causes of obesity is not the answer. McDonalds -- okay, fine b/c that shit doesn't even qualify as food, Games at least stimulate your mind... or can anyway. Most Television does not, so why not tax TV? Most other countries do.
What about Music? All this music that "makes" people go out and kill people, rape goats, and join Al Qaeda -- I've got a lot more against those shitheads than fat people. It'll never happen though. Give the government an inch - they'll fight for a mile. Everyone knows this and won't stand for it.
Considering I used to be quite hefty myself - 252 lbs and age 18, down to 185 at age 21 (had a little problem) then and up to about 200-ish at 28 I generally give people the benefit of the doubt. I know what it's like. I got all the fat jokes up until high school, until I got to plow those people on the football fied. Now - the roles are reversed, but unfortunately, being mature prohibits me from pointing out the obvious.
And an extra WTF to Michael Bloomberg. Anyone who's ever worked w/ IT in anyway in a bank knows that Bloomberg is probably the most dis-organized, poorly run excuse for a company.... yet he's a billionaire.
