Most Under-appreciated Game
« on: January 24, 2003, 05:49:00 PM »

There have been a bunch of games out there that were given some crappy reviews or got lost in the flood of games with more publicity. I'd like to know which games you think are really good, but got unfair reviews or got lost.

I just bought Phantom Crash, and I friggin' love it!! I've only had it for a few days and it's already one of my favourite games! Really good graphics, great gameplay, good music, insane customizability (you can buy songs in the game and add them to custom playlists), really good maps, and it's a mech game!! It kicks ass!!  laugh.gif It's got that furious fast-paced mech-action that MechAssault is so popular because of, but it also has loads of micro-management. Some people might not like the idea of micro-management, but it's actually a good thing in this game. You can buy and sell any part of your mech (called Scoobee's), and there are even sentient AI CHIPS that help you lock-onto targets and converse with you. Even THOSE are completely customizable! This game got a couple mediocre reviews when it came out a while back, but I love it, and I'm sure many others will. It's not for everybody, but it'd by far the best mech-game I've played for the Xbox. . .

DEATHROW, there is no doubt about that. the game was very good and wasn't really discussed anywhere. it's a classic futuristic sports game where u can have the option of just kicking ass all day. highly ignored but not underated by sites just the users.

Although I dont have it myself - JSRF.  It did get a high rating here, but hardly any1 bought it.  I think it just got a bit tiresome for some after a while.

Metal Dungeon.
Yes, I know that everyone is going to say it sucked, and it is a bit dry, but to me (can't explain why), it reminds me of PSO. I like PSO.

I have heard a lot of negative feedback regarding the game Transworld Surf.

I don't know if it is just because there are so many gamers out there who don't surf (and don't understand the game), or if people just really think it sucks.  I guess that you shouldn't have to surf to be able to tell if a game is fun or not, but when you can ride in the barrell of HUGE waves that suck up over insanely sharp reefs, and pull monster airs at places that you would never dream of trying to catch air at in the real world, well, it just seems more enjoyable.

I often see the game used for 14.99 and I can't help but think that this is an absolute bargain.  If any of you have any inkling of an interest in surfing, check this game out.  BTW, I haven't played the Kelly Slater surfing game yet, but that got a bad wrap too (deservedly?).

Jet Set Radio Future was great, but it got difficult towards the end so people stopped playing it.
