Anyone Using Their Original Xbox On It's Side?

I'm trying to figure out how to keep my xbox a part of my existing setup. The issue is that I just don't have space in my tv stand to fit the xbox along with all my other components (including a 360). I'm not ready to let go of XBMC, though, so I need to figure out how to fit the sucker.

So do any of you actually use sit your xbox on the side? Any issues? If I rarely use the dvd rom, should it really matter

i dont think there would be any issues it might not be very stable balance wise. but if oyu wanted you could also try to make a slimbox.

Don't turn the box on it's side when it's turned on. The HDD and the fan can make funny noises if you do.

Otherwise, I don't see a problem with it. Just remember that there should be enough room behind the Xbox for the hot air to get out. Also, do NOT cover the upper side with anything, since air will need to get in from that direction!

when i had my xbox on its side it wouldnt read disks...

Yeah, again, I have no plans of using the dvd rom anymore.  I will only use the system for xbmc.

I'm going to give it a try.  Worse that could happen is that I see the temps abnormally high.  If it gets to that point, then I'll just figure something out.

I actually have to turn my 1.0 box on its side just so it will read disks.  It's a trick I learned with the PSX, and I've lanned with it on its side for hours.
