As for the hard-drive I think you can just take the eeprom from the new xbox you are going to put it in. Then make a disc using xboxhdm and then lock the hard drive using the new eeprom. Thats what I have done w/ larger hard drives

R7D8 is a 10k resistor on all xbox versions, so yes it would be possible to remove the component from one board and put it on another. However I would suggest getting a normal 10k 1/8w resistor and using that instead, as it will be easier to solder, and you dont have to ruin another board. Unless its just a board for spare pieces, and youre good at soldering.

Yes its just a file....usually any dashboard you use has the option to backup or backup eeprom...and it will save as backup.bin or eeprom.bin on your xbox hard drive...you then want to FTP to your pc and create the  xboxhdm bootdisc using this eeprom then follow xboxhdm directions on how to lock this other hard drive w/ the eeprom from the xbox you are putting it in.  There may be an easier way to do this but this is how I do it. You can probably also just hotswap out the drive for the new one.
