Xbox Freezes During Game Play

Okay I have an Xbox v1.6 with an Xecuter3 (purple), X3 CP, fan speed set to 60%, and a 250 Western Digital Hard drive.  I was playing Halo2 online the other night (modchip off), walked away for about an hour at the title screen and returned to find that the game was frozen.  The next night after an hour or two of online play (chip off again) the same thing happened this time while in a game.  I shut the system off, turned it back on a few seconds later only to have it lock up soon after booting up.  I had a hard drive crap out on me once before, I replaced it about 8 months ago.  Before my last hard drive died the freezing was accompanied by ticking/grinding noises from the hard drive and FRAG on the power switch.  This time I have no unusual noises coming from the hard drive, no flashing of colored lights, it just freezes.  I opened it last night and aside from it being a bit dusty, I dont see anything unusual looking.  Then again, I'm not sure what to look for.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I dusted the thing last night, slapped it back together, and now when i press the power button it keeps turning itself on and off then back on again etc. and flashing yellow around the eject button.  How do I troubleshoot this.  The system doesnt even get a chance to boot.

The flashing sounds like you may have altered your bios bank switches, maybe in cleaning it. do you know which banks your X3 bios is flashed on?

Doh, that was it.  When I tried to turn it on again last night I noticed that the first button was lighting up red.  I pressed it again and now it's working fine.  Hopefully the freezing was a heat issue caused by all the wires that had fallen behind my xbox from the shelf above.

gotta luv them x3 switch settings, its like algebra there are so many ways to set them
