Car Covers, Is It Worth It For Me?

Just trying to think of ways to help preserve the paint on my lexus.  Deal is that I work a swing shift (3:30PM-Midnight) and up until about 3PM my car usually is sitting under a covered carport in front of my apartment.  So first of all would it be worth it for the 5 hours or so that my car is exposed to the blazing sun while sitting at work?   If so, then what should I go for? I have seen everything from $30-$40 generic covers to $250 custom fit jobs.  Outside of some of them being waterproof, I can't seem to find much difference.
