Ok dude,

Follow what i say

im guessing you have a soldering iron, 30AWG wire, solder, stanley knife, sharp blade etc

Simply scratch away at the trace until you reveal the copper of it.
Then hold the solder on the revealed copper of the trace and then apply the soldering iron.
You should now see the trace has turned silver (colour of solder)
Do this to each side of the damaged trace.

Then tin the 30AWG wire on both ends.

simply place the tinned wire onto the silver part of the trace where you placed the solder before. Now apply the soldering iron and you should see it adhere to the trace.
Do this for both ends so now the trace is connected again.

its very very easy to fix a trace.
To recap

Reveal the copper trace by scraping away at it, then apply solder to it, tin the wire and solder the trace and wire together.

hope that helps, get back on here with the results smile.gif

No, you'd have to desolder your EEPROM, then resolder it back onto the new board. So either way, you'll have to solder. And since the EEPROM has more points, it'd be easier to just solder the trace back on.

Or pick up a rear-window defogger repair kit.  These things come with some seriously conductive paint... paint that on to repair the trace.

I've seen some trace repairing pens around. They're basically gold pens, but they're specially formulated to redraw traces. I know Cyberguys used to sell them, but I just searched the site and couldn't find anything. Maybe Froogle would have it.

sorry about not fixing the trace man =/

to answer your second question though, you'd need to get the hdd key for the first drive, you can do it with XboxHDM or ATAPWD, there's a few more tuts on here that tell you how to unlock a hard drive.

as to the secondq question, yes you can "undo" a softmod. just delete any applications, and restore the original ms dash on there and delete the gamesave if you want. There are a few places that you can get the original ms dash, or check the last link in my sig for any cd's that'll boot on a softmodded box and restore the xboxdash.xbe for you

I've never personally had to unlock a hard drive.. I've had a chip in my xbox, so i can unlock it through that. I wish I could help you out, but I don't have any personal experience in unlocking hard drives. There are a few guides on here that identify methods of unlocking, try doing a forum search for unlocking hard drive.

First off, I am assuming that your current dead xbox is a softmod and that your HDD is locked.

You can unlock your current HDD....

1) If you have a backup of the EPROM, use xboxhdm and your computer to unlock it.

2) You can also try using the default HDD lock passwords. TEAMASSEMBLY or XBOXSCENE, this has a good chance of working if you had the HDD upgraded. Again, use xboxhdm

3) If it's the stock Seagate drive and you can't do #1, then look around for the Seagate HDD BIOS flash topic in this forum.

You can't really use a softmoded xbox to fix your current drive. Once you remove the HDD out of the softmodded xbox, the softmod goes with it.

Just take the Xenium out of your broken box and put it in the softmod, get your EEPROM, then take the chip out. No good in wasting a perfectly good chip.
