My 6 month holding period on my permit ended today.  I'm happy.  I get to go get my license mid next week when the Department of Public Saftey is open.  biggrin.gif

If you're a minor you have to wait 6 months from first getting your permit to test for your license.

DMV, that's the one.  I always get them confused.

But yeah, I didn't really know what else to call the 6 month waiting period either.  laugh.gif

Now whenever I go get my licence, I'll get to wait another 6 months and only be able to have one passenger in my car at a time.

why would you have to wait another 6 months before having more than 1 passenger??

i got mine at age 15 1/2 and i had to wait until 16 before i could try for my license. once i got them, i could have as many passengers as my car will hold (5).

I don't know how it works elsewhere, but once you get your license at 16, you have a few restrictions on it.  One of which being max of one passenger in the car at a time.

here is how it works in Utah:

15 yrs 6 mo- Driver's Permit (You can drive aslong as you have a parent or adult over 21 in the passenger seat)

16 yrs- Driver's License (You can drive by yourself, no supervision, but no friends in the car unless you are going to or from school, church, etc. You can't drive past midnight too, i believe)

16 yrs 6 mo- (You can drive with friends in the car, I'm not sure about any restrictions)

Man you guys are lucky... here in Newfoundland you get your permit/learners at 16, wait a year and get your license (at 17), then lose restrictions such as midnight curfew after another year, making you a fully licensed driver at 18

That's stupid, you shouldn't be allowed to have alcohol in you  at all when your driving.
