ok so i purchased a v1.0 mobo off of ebay , that i was planning on installing into my empty xbox case, coupled with my old Xbox hard drive, now when i got done and i turned it on it gave me green then red , is it because they both are from different xboxes, and if that is the case what can i do to fix it ? the mobo looks brand new by the way , no solder anywere : ) and i did search on here and couldnt find anything on this subject and what the fixes are, also it obviously isnt modded !

hmm, if the drive and mobo didn't match it would give you an error screen with a code in the corner. i think it's no. 8 did that happen?

no it doesn't give me any err exept for the green / red flashing light
it sounds as if the hard drive is spinning , then stops then spins then stops kinda like up and down ? speeds up then slows down ?

dude the motherboard is dead :/ check around the d0 point. but to me it sounds like u have been scammed :/

could it be that my hard drive is off of a 3944 and the mobo is a 4034 ?

Yeah, I agree. Any error that would prompt a frag comes way before any mobo-HD mismatch. Does it look like a previous owner may have tried to mod it? They may have fried one of the d0 points. If this is the case, bridge what's left of the d0 points with some wire and see if that works.

@ Xeero no the mobo looks like brand new, trust me that was the first thing that i looked for , "solder Marks / or soldering errs" ,and i didnt see any at all ?

well i got the dude to send me another mobo and this one works , but cince i have a different hard drive, it gives me err # 6 , what steps should i take in order to get rid of this err, ? mod my box and format with the likes of slayer or evo x ?

Yep only way to get rid of that msg is to mod that mb.. if you have allready unlocked the hd then it should work straight.. if its locked.. you can throw it to the trashcan..

in this case you have to buy a new hd.

Can't he unlock and lock through ms dos on pc? I am in the same situation as him with error 6 and I locked and unlocked the hd and still got the error 6. By the way I was using matrix with xecuters latest bios, and my old hd from my first xbox. Error 6 no matter what.
