By the way, if I were to get an STI, I would for sure get a used one since there's no way I can get a brand new one for $30k Canadian. I'd probably end up getting a 2003/2004.

Good years. I personally hate the newer design.
But my favorite is still the '99 2 door.  happy.gif

A WRX wagon would be nice actually. I think those have got around 230hp so that's still fine. And as for getting a Dodge, no way. I've been hating their recent designs (aside from the 300) for a while now. An Audi would also be nice. An A4 or something of the like.

I have no idea what 30k is worth in USD. But the WRX wagons are sweet as all hell.

I will so buy your car.  Would you like to trade it for a slow POS plastic car?  (It looks pretty?) smile.gif

You know I would, but those headlights, god damn they're ugly. No offense. sad.gif

You guys have any idea what a front fascia conversion would run me? Then I could get an even older STI and make it look like a newer one. Then I'd get to keep some of the $30k.
And Rylinkus:

30,000.00 CAD   =   27,132.05 USD
Canada Dollars       United States Dollars

 cool.gif We're gettin' up there.

Yeah the bug eyes are ugly... but you never see them while driving  laugh.gif

Front end conversions cost a few grand you have to replace: front facia, grill, headlights (and possibly foglights), side marker lights, front fenders and the hood. All of those (with the exception of the lights obviously) require painting, the fenders at least will have to be installed by a pro because there is some welding/grinding involved (and being aluminum it requires special welding equipment). Also the wiring harness for the headlights will have to be modified and bits will have to be cut out of the front frame for the headlights to fit properly.

easy right  laugh.gif

I had a wrx and in NH it got me threw all the snow now i'm in Boston and got rid of the car. My subaru was quick and decent on gas and very reliable. I had some issues with paint flaking but mechanically the car was perfect. Cheap to maintain and again very fast. The STI is a incredibly fast car i would vote for a used STI with a set of snowtires it'll be good in the snow and that 6speed tranny is built solid.

Oh how I miss being your age and being so inpractical about my first car. Sure, I wanted all the cool,
fast cars you described. But you know what I got in the end? An '88 Toyota Camry. That car wasn't the nicest or fastest, but ran like a champ for over 300,000 miles before I finally wrecked it in the snow.

Think practical, not cool. But, of course, if I had your budget I would get something nice. All I'm saying is think about the long haul and what you will enjoy and be able to maintain down the road. You don't wanna spend 30k on a car then have to work your ass off just to keep it running.

Hmmm, you seem to have contradicted yourself.

My thoughts exactly. I don't know exactly how insurance works in BC but in alberta you would be paying upwards of $300-400 depending on what coverage you get.

Would you be interested in a purple-ish dark blue Ford Contour GL, MUCH less than lovingly treated.... 96 with about 33k miles on it?

Man you have no idea how cheap your insurance is in Alberta compared to here in B.C.  I have 3 vehicles insured....

90 Tracker (mega  beater, just for work and back, absolutely basic insurance) = $900/year
97 Gmc Sierra K2500 ( collision and comprehensive coverage) = $1650/year
95 Mazda Mpv ( wifes rig, basic insurance with 2 mil. liability) =$1100/year

That is all with my maximum possible of 43% discount (15+ years claim free)

Price you pay to live in paradise..... biggrin.gif
