decent car.. i just put a system in the exact same car but black like 2 weeks ago. pioneer 5700 in-dash dvd, mb quart seperates front and back with an mtx 4ch, then a custom slot-ported box for an mtx 9500 10" run by a massive mtx 2ch.. both amps under plexi in the trunk, with the quart crossovers in a custom rack where the factory amp was. nice little 3 day job

btw.. euro cars suck for installers.. haha

Bleh... tell me about it. I was gunna take my sub out from my other car and install it in the bmw... but it's frustrating dealing with all the little wires in the wire harness on the amp. I was all used to the after market HU w/ the sub output. But for this one I had ta buy a LOC to get the low freq. But now that I'm frustrated with it all and have all the components needed, I figured I'd juss take it to someone to do it for me for 50 bucks, lol.

EDIT: But at least the battery is already in the trunk, so you don't have ta take apert the whole car to wire juss the sub and amp.

Yeah, then you shouldn't have a problem (at least I think you shouldn't, lol). The way my car is, is that the signal from the stock HU is actually a slightly amplified signal, which is then sent to the stock amp, and then sent to the speakers (which are made to work with the wattage the stock system provides! lol). Which causes a problem if I were to just change the HU. It's funky. And expensive for whenever I decide to get a knew system.

Well, today I broke down and bought an Alpine deck for the Saturn.  It had all the features I wanted for the best price, so I couldn't resist.  The skipping/scratching up my CD-Rs is just getting too annoying to bear.  I bought it locally but here is the model:

decent deck, i love the new ipod interface (only need a $30 msrp cable) , the only thing i don't like is that they did away with the motorized faceplate. manual flaps just get on my nerves.

Yeah, that will be kind of a pain.  The clarion I had in my RX-7 was motorized.  Made everything so easy.

Really? I always thought motorized ones were irritating. You gotta wait for it to open, lol. Granted they're not too slow, but slower than a manual. tongue.gif
And what's so much harder with a manual than a motorize? If anything it's harder to close a motorized cuz you gotta hit the button, rather than just tossing the face shut on the manual. But whatever floats ur boat I guess, haha.

haha, yeah.. it's just a personal preference kinda thing. kinda says something about the deck when they take the time to motorize it. another nice thing about motorized faceplates is that they always have angle settings. kinda nice when your deck sits low in the dash

and i don't know about your decks, but mine always shut on their own when i put the cd in wink.gif .. haha

Eh...motorized faceplates just means that there's more things to break.

I've got a Pioneer DEH-P6400 in my Saturn.  Just bought an Ipod and the stupid "ip bus" to RCA conversion piece so I can plug it in.  I had a Volvenhag amp, which sounded pretty damn nice until it blew 9 months after I bought it sad.gif

Looking at buying a JBL1200.1  (600WRMSx1@4ohms) to push my 2x Infinity Reference 1230W (300WRMS) 12".

Just got a cheap ported box for now...looking at making a custom enclosure to save trunk space.

Dont do anything to your car if your thinking of what others think about it. Lambo doors and body kit if you do it all yourself i would give you props. but if its all shop then its definately leaning towards ricer

I knew a couple people that put M3 badges on their non-M BMWs.... I don't get it.

I have an ESi. Thanks for all the replies.

PS: Since I'm only 16 there's no way I would get any kind of speed upgrade and have it fly with the parent's.
Do people get picked on too horribly for having a riced out car? And how far is far enough to be riced?
I just want to do a slick one color paintjob with a lambo doors and a body kit. Also a clean interior(no tv's or anything just really clean and nice seats and stuff and a nice(not insane) sound system.

Avoid bodykits and Wing spoilers like the plague.  People do get picked on alot for having riced out cars not to mention the more eye candy you have, the more likely you are to have your car broken into/vandalized.  The other thing to keep in mind is that a decent body kit isn't going to be cheap but the first time you crack that thing, the body kit is pretty much done and all that money is down the drain.  A fresh one color paintjob and a nice set of tires and rims are about as far as I would go.  BTW is the paint fading on it?

if you are going to put money in the car, make sure u protect that money.

get like pillet proof glass and a door handle that shock you if it is locked. laugh.gif

it wiuld be cheap for the eltric door handle, but the bullrt proof gall would cost a pretty penny

An upgraded turbo is easier to hide than a paint job and "lambo doors". Don't do it man. It's your first car, and as it's not a TSI it's not really cool. Drive it. With the money it'd take to add a decent paint job and then do the doors you'd easily be able to get a fun car. So save som cash and buy something fun as soon as your parents arent lording over you.

I agree, unless the paint job on your car is causing problems (ie rust) then I say leave it as is.
