2000 Ford Focus, 1999 Ford F150, age 30, married, $99/month.

Forget that number.  I completed a defensive driving course (my work paid for it so I can drive university vehicles  wink.gif ) and they lopped another $10 off my monthly insuance premium.  Down to $90 a month for the two vehicles.

17
Minnesota
1986 Jeep wagoneer
Just liability**
158 and some change...

Thats AFTER a 400 dollar "good student" rebate thing!

(good thing I had a nice oficer the night I got pulled over doing 94 in a 60    ohmy.gif
Officer asks "You know why I pulled you over?" To which I reply, "Yep, I was cruzin" He asks "know how fast you were goin?" and I said these exact words "To be honest sir, I have no clue. All I know is that It was over 85 because thats all my speedo goes up to and it was pegged"  He then states " 94 Miles per hour!"

To make a long story short, he tells me to call my dad, I call him up, says he'll let me off with a warning as it was my first offence on record as long as my dad deals with the problem himself...
I get my cell phone back from the officer, and my dad says this "You GOTTA remember they changed the speed limit laws up here! they'll pull you over for doing 65.2mph in a 65 zone now....Now hurry the hell up and get up here were waiting for you" lol--I love my dad...

SOoo I guess it wasn't a short version but yeah.. And next summer will be worse when I get my probe gt on there but I'm going to list it as rylinkus does with his camaro "weekend only car"

Yeah it will definitly be put under my parents, and I will probably get the good student discount.

Could i list my car (when i get one) as a "weekend car" even though it would be an everyday car?

I wouldn't do that.  Depending on your state insurance laws, let's say you get a ticket or cause an accident during the week...going to school, practice, whatever...and you could potentially be forced to pay back the  difference in the rates since you apparently drive during the week and only pay for weekend coverage.  Or, even worse, lose your coverage all together and be charged with insurance fraud.  It's not worth it to me.

Probably safer just to take the hit on your premium.

hmm I have some BS tickets as well. They havent affected my rates and mine are STILL the highest sad.gif

Ticket 1: On my way home from high school graduation, I was given a ticket for driving too close to the vehicle in front of me.... in almost total gridlock! I was the second last car, with the cops behind me, pulled over bc he didnt like the geo storm. 120 bucks

Ticket 2: 2 days later, same cop, pulled over because I alledgedly gave him the finger. I was not given my liscense back the last time he pulled me over, so the next time I was pulled over, I didnt have it. 120 bucks

Ticket 3: same time as Ticket 2: Looks at my insurance, and says its expired (it most certainly isnt, i reknewed for a full year one or two months prior)   650 bucks blink.gif  (I called shinanagins and didnt pay though)

Ticket 4: Day after I was given the Chevrolet truck, was peeling out of every possible road, and didnt realize there was an unmarked police car behind me 120 bucks

I bullshitted my way out of the insuarnace and tailgating ones in court, but the others I had to pay

I dont think youre gonna pull off a "weekend car" without having a vehicle you claim you drive everyday. So my Nissan in my case. Driving it during the week isnt the issue, but moreover, it's the mileage I claim Im going to accrue on one vs the other. I nearly triple the mileage on my car with my truck. So it's reasonable to assume that Id be more likely to be in my Truck in an accident then the Camaro. It'd be cheaper to have insurance on just my Camaro, I know that much. When I lost the tranny in my truck and it was off the road for a month and tried to get it off my insurance temporarily and was told to keep it on and claim Im driving it as it helps keep my rates lower.

Yhea, there would be other cars since it wont be under me, but ill probably just list it as regular dont want any insurance fraud bullshit.

Anyone remember what they paid when they were 16 or 17 and what they had? It seems most of the people are in their 20's.

When i first got my car and my insurance was i think about $140 a month. If you only have liabiltiy you will most likely be paying between 80-140 a month. Although like was said before, if you take out a loan to get your car and are making payments then you will have no choice but to get full coverage becuase its part of the deal, the bank wants full coverage so if it gets totaled it will be repaired and you still have to pay them or they can repo it.

Yeah, probably about $140 or so per month when I was 16 with a 1984 V8 Thunderbird, liability coverage in Illinois.
