Awsome Article In Mph Mag
« on: January 11, 2006, 04:48:00 PM »

Sorry in the store i notice MPH magazine has a headline Porsche for under 5k. I think yeah right, but i still want to see what they are talking about. So i open it up and the talk about the 928 and how the first few years 78-80 are around 5k. Now at the time i didnt notice what the car actually was but when i saw the pics i realized ITS FROM THE MOVIE SCARFACE!!!!!!!! Just like the one he drove. Now Scarface is my favortie movie of all time i watch it atleast 5 time a week, infact as i type this im about to go watch it. So i definently need to buy one of these so ive been looking at/for them. Does anyone know anything about them i should know? I imagine it will be a pain to reapair (parts $$$) but everyone i have looked at is still in great condition, which is odd for MD. No rust on any and the interiors are generaly new looking.

Anyway here is one:

I've been watching low-cost Porsches for a while now....me wanty.

Anyways, I've been intrigued by those headlights for a while, here's a page I found with a bunch of pictures of different 928's...some are incredible.  (It's in french, too sad.gif

Those are automatic aren't they? (I can't really tell, pictures are small)

Thats sad. At the shop I'm at right now, there is a 06 Vette that we are putting this hidious looking stripe on, and its an automatic too. A automatic sports car is like having sex with your clothes on. POINTLESS!!

Yeah i prefer manual aswell. Most of the 928s are manual anyway so its not like its hard to find one thas not auto.

Too much work? Thats kinda lazy. It dosen't take much more energy/time to use your left foot to push in and release a clutch pedal.

A regular vette is available with a auto or a stick. A Z-06 Corvette has ONLY a 6-speed manual transmission.

I saw a ad in a motor trend magazine a while ago for a company that converts a Dodge Viper to automatic. Thats sad. If its a sports car over 6 cylinders, it should at least have a Manual transmission option.

The Chrylser 300C or SRT-8, Dodge Magnum, and Dodge Charger, all are fast cars. However, they are ONLY automatic. Don't give me the "its a tiptronic transmission, its just as good as a manual" line. There not. Stinking Chrysler calling a auto-stick. Losers. Give me a clutch for christ sake.

I refuse to drive automatic!  It's hardly driving at all.

Until you've learned to drive manual, you can't say it's too much work, cause it's really quite fun, and I picked up on it within a week or two.

Plus, better gas mileage, better performance, and none of your siblings can drive your car, but I can steal all of theirs biggrin.gif

Honestly the whole auto thing depends on your needs and where you live. If you lived in a heavy traffic part of the city and wnet through rush ahour traffic, i know i wouldnt want a Manual. I get pissed when driving a Manual and i hit standstill traffic. Go, stop, go shift, down shift, stop. Annoying as hell....

yeah, more often than not thats my morning commute

i dont know, i like to just sit back and relax while i drive and not worry about shifting (yes, ive driven manual) although if i was given the option to have one of those cars that you can switch from manul to automatic with the push of a button it woul dbe cool, lol

i recently saw an article in a magazine about an 800hp daily driver mustang, it was an automatic, i think thats badass, lol

an 800hp mustung w/ an automatic? That kind of car with that much horsepower desvers a manual. Good idea though about switching between automatic/maual, but thats gonna be one big-ass tranny lol

Automatic transmissions actually have advantages in drag racing.

WTF?  An automatic transmission in a sports car is like chopping the balls off of a guy.  A sports car just isn't complete without a manual tranny.

manual= a pain in the ass in bad traffic. A stall converter and a built automatic tranny will beat a manual any day.
