Fuel Injected - Carburated Engine Intake Question
« on: October 15, 2005, 07:07:00 PM »

ok, we just swapped an 88 350(fi carb thingy) into an 82 chevy truck when the 78 350 in it spun a bearing. i tried to hook up the computers to the 88 but had no sucess. we had to cut the wires to get it out of the parts car. when i went to hook up the ecu to the engine wires there were too many wires the same color. my haynes manual had most of the wire colors, but some were different. in hind sight i'd unplug the sensors/etc off the  motor and snake them out of the parts car. so we just threw on a holly carb, we had to re tap the intake mani for new bolt holes, and this wasn't a perfect install but it works. we tired to find another manifold to just swap on, but gm changed teh casting sometime in the 80's so there are basically two inakes, ones for old carbs, and ones for new fi carbs

good luck, and research before you do anything
