Would like to some photos @ coderunner  rolleyes.gif

Here is just a rough pic of the developement stage. I will add more when I get it all together and finalize.

Build it, plugged it in and so far everything is going great. Now i'm going to plug it in in a PC here and install Windows on it... Let's cross fingers...

Does anybody have the codes for different model seagate drives like the ST3160021A as my 160 gig drive is locked and my board is stuffed.

I would be interested in this too. I manually locked that seagate 160gig drive with a password I thought right. Found its not right and now cannot seem to manually unlock it as the lock password is longer then what atapwd allows (my pass is 40 chars). Maybe someone can suggest something else?

I wasnt able to unlock it. sad.gif

Like i said previously, i can get to the point that i see all the info about the hdd in HyperTerminal, but i'm not able to get the t> prompt. Each time i press ctrl+y or +z, it return an ascii character, each time different, it's pretty weird (actually i get same result with any key). Do u think i need to check my solder, or can i assumed that my device is ok because it can upload  hdd current ver and firmware?

PS i added a led and a 150ohm resistor between 5v and grnd so i can know theres power, can it alter the data in any way and be the cause of my problems?

i had the same issue, i checked the board a few times but couldnt find any issues

anyhow i decided to try another keyboard and everything works fine with it.
so try another kb see how you go

I tried to download the instruction file but it is expired already.
If anyone has the English version (or even German) can you email it to me.
Email address should be with profile.

so what exactly do the commands do?

/2
S006b
R21,01
C0,570
W20,01

with more understanding of these commands, perhaps we can work out a way to
unlock other models?

Thanks so much TKramka. I only just checked the site yesterday and found your post. And big thanks to cyd0g for the effort you made in doing the tutorial,,, three drives gave their lives for a worthy cause,,,at least I hope so.  laugh.gif
When I got into the drive it is giving an err=001D as soon as it boots, so I couldn't use your commands which were locked out. Did your dead drives give an error code? No matter, I never knew there was a serial access to a drive and I tried out lots of other commands in that list since the drive was a writeoff anyway.

Does anyone have one of these premade that I can buy? I would also need the cable that hooks up to the jumpers.
