I was going to buy one from a dealer but he stated I needed a racing license to own one. Is this true? I was looking into a 1999 GT-S R It was a killer deal 30,000 Canadian. Can anyone help me on this? I have tried Du-Point Regisrty and nothing.

Not sure on the rest, but in order to legally acquire one here, there's something like $50,000 of work that has to be done by one particular company...but that's just in the US... not sure about Canada.

I'd be willing to bet Motorex in California could at least give you insight on what it would take to get a road legal skyline in Canada.

Deep pockets. To get one legal you have you would have to pay to have 10 of them imported to a place where cars are tested, and all of them would be wrecked. Then if they pass the tests you can drive them on the roads, if not, you have to buy another skyline to be modded with special reinforment peices where the car had problems, and wreck that one, then also do the same work to the original one. That would be expensive as hell. Why go thorugh all of that when you could just get a cheap car like a 240 and drop the skyline motor in it and make it awd? I guess some people just want the skyline name, if I had the option, I would go for it to.

I've heard that rb26dett swap in 240 is EXTREMELY tedious to do. if you want an AWD car with speed get a talon tsi. I know it's nowhere in the league of the skyline, but to import ANY car u gotta have big bux. if u want speed, go for the sr20det swap or keep the ka in the 240.

I"d rather buy a car for say 3000 then pour in 20,000 then buy a car for 20,000 and pour in 3,000. makes no sense. But if you have the money for a wrx then go for it
