But those arent true hybrid cars. They slapped a badge on there that says hybrid and some weak technology to make people think they are getting a hybrid car. Thats why I didnt compare those two.

You can't compare 2 different cars, IE a Honda Insight and a Honda Accord and expect it to be fair. The Accord is a higher level car then the Insight. If you were trying to make a coherant argument you'd be comparing the accord to the accord hybrid which starts @ 30,140 vs. 18,225 for a base level accord sedan (Numbers from Honda's website)

My point exactly.

A hybrids a hybrid. Youre trying to comapre a tiny 3 door car to a 4 door sedon. Hows that make any sense. The Civic hybrid has the same technology as the insight. It's just bigger, IE 4 door.

The accord I compared it to was a 2 door coup. Fair trade, insight looses a cylinder, accord loses a door. The civic and accord hybrids arent true hybrids, I agree that buying one of those compared to the normal model would be stupid, buf it you would want a gas saving hybrid you would go for the insight as it is a true hybrid (meaning it was designed to save a lot on gas).

One thing people are missing here is the environmental factor.  I am no environmentalist, but is it worth $20,000 to reduce vehicle emissions?  That is the biggest advantage to the true hybrid like the Prius.  They pollute far less than other conventional I/C engine powered cars.

Gas prices wouldnt go up. If people dont buy something the prices go down, not up. Do you understand supply and demand? However we would have alot less gas stations, since it wouldnt be as big of an industry.

you all forget one point, i havent seen the insite yet but every other hybrid i have seen is uglier than the ugliest car ever made in the world, so 10,000 more that will take you 7 years to get your money, thats enough to stop me form buying a hybrid
